  • Note that Resume-Now has a hyphen!

FOCUS ON: Build a job-winning resume fast, easy.

DOWNLOAD THIS BRAND VOICE GRID AND FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES LISTED UNDER THE “RN” COLUMN:

Brand Voice Grid

*We highly recommend keeping the Brand Voice Grid open as you write the content and refer to it often to see if your wording matches the requested brand voice.*

Keywords and Word Counts Per Section:

No Keywords required (but you may include the key terms for the brand).

Word counts are listed at top of brief. Please stay within 10 words of requested count either way. If 60 words are requested for a section, please stay within 50-70 words.

New content you need to write has the word count highlighted yellow.
BOLD content for you to repurpose has word count highlighted green.
BOLD content they want our editors to review, the word “Edit” is highlighted blue at the beginning of the section.

Example from top of brief:

New content = 535 words
Repurposed content = 355 words
Edit Only content = 1594 words

Do’s and Don’ts

  • BE CONCISE and to the point. There should be NO fluff wording in these. Try to keep paragraphs to no more than five lines of text.
  • Preserve the content listed as being repurposed, but tweak for flow and directions for the section.
  • Please use the Oxford (serial) comma.
  • Use active voiceNO passive voice! Use this free grammar checker.
  • Job seeker is two words.
  • Don’t use “OK.” Please spell out the word “okay.”
  • Don’t write the word “percent.” Use the symbol “%” instead.

INSTRUCTIONS: Read through the brief. Add requested new content and repurpose specified content. Copy and paste everything that needs to be edited or that has “No words” into your document in the order given. The finished article must have all the sections and look like the “RN Industry-Approved Final Doc.” In general, these are the blades you will be working on, and you will copy and paste everything else:

Blade 1 – Repurpose content (Note – some briefs incorrectly say to rewrite this section. Instead, please REPURPOSE the content (see below for instructions).
Blade 3 – Add new content
Blade 5 – Add and/or repurpose content. All sections of this blade from the Summary Statement through the Keywords need to have bullet items (even if the approved doc doesn’t show it).
Blade 6 – Add new content

However, be sure to check all blades for additional sections that need content.

IMPORTANT: These pages are organized into Headlines and Readout sections. If you are given a yellow-highlighted word count, you are to write that section (new words). Sometimes there is a small amount of content in the Readout section. If so, you may use it or not. If you are given a green-highlighted word count, there will be content that you need to repurpose to help fulfill the needs of the section. Sometimes, their paragraph is fine and a blue-highlighted “Edit” will be next to it. You will be asked to add bullets. Other times, there will not be a paragraph (you will be asked to add content) but the bullets exist and a blue-highlighted “Edit” will be next to those or the directions for that section will simply tell you to include the bullets but not to add them to the total word count.

Repurposing content means to use the given content without rewriting it for originality. Simply use the best sentences or phrases to meet the word count and directions given for that section. If you have more repurposed content than you can use for one section, you may incorporate it into other sections you are writing.

Compare your document to the “RN Industry-Approved Final Doc”  It must match formatting and approximate word counts for each section that you write new content for or repurpose. Keep this document open to compare to frequently and use it as a final checklist. Your format and style should match this document.

INTRODUCTION – Pay particular attention to the introduction to the page and the H1s and the content directly after in the “RN Industry Approved Final Doc.” We need to make sure the headline is mentioned and answered in the sentences beneath. You can see in that example that they bolded the parts of the headline to show you how it is incorporated into the paragraph. Review the completed doc and model your introduction after this one. BOLD explains what readers can expect to find on the page. Do not use question sentences as lead-ins on intros. Use a soft approach and work in “Resume-Now” in the second or third sentence, not the first sentence.

If you are writing or repurposing a section that begins with a headline, please incorporate the headline or the parts of the headline in the Readout paragraph. In the Approved Final Doc, they bolded the headlines. We do not want you to bold the headline or page title within your paragraph, but please do incorporate it.

Blade 3 requires you to write at least one resume sample. Please follow the same format as the examples given, but be very industry specific.

Blade 5 may have some sections not included in the “RN Industry Approved Final Doc.” Please include all sections that are in your brief.
