For this project we will be developing landing pages for a special subset of CVS Pharmacies, a national brand of health and drug stores based in Rhode Island.

  • The client wants the content to be localized, so the pages must contain specific geographical content for the city.

Brand Voice Guidelines:

  • Tone should be conversational, caring, credible and confident.
    • Try to be as clear and concise as possible. Lean more towards “cut and dry,” but make sure your headers are written to draw readers in.
  • Write in 1st person, as if you were the company.
    • Try to use phrases such as “our pharmacy” or “our store” instead of simply “we” or “us.”
    • NOTE: Please use “our pharmacy” instead of “your pharmacy.”
  • When referring to CVS, always use “CVS Pharmacy®”
    • NOTE: If your store type includes y más, refer to the location as “CVS Pharmacy® y más”
  • When referring to ExtraCare® or MinuteClinic®, always use the registered symbol ®
    • (To create the registered symbol ®, please hold down CTRL+ALT+R)
      • NOTE: if done any other way, it sometimes comes out incorrectly in the HTML.  When you convert it over, make sure that your registered symbol shows up as “&reg” in the code, not “&Ograve.”
    • Never pluralize these brand names. (incorrect: “MinuteClinics”)
  • Use sentence case on headers
    • Ex. “Convenient operating hours”
  • Do NOT use the Oxford (serial) comma.
  • Instead of saying “log on,” use “sign in.”

Page Format: Please be sure to include a full space (enter twice) between headers and paragraphs.

  • Page URL
  • Page Title (using H1 formatting)
  • Body Content
    • If “optical,” “audiology,” “home health center” or “y más” is listed in the store type or store services column, please dedicate an entire paragraph to the service. (See Body Guidelines tab for details)
    • See “links” tab for details on how to include requested hyperlinks.
  • End the page with a “Call to Action” that summarizes the information and instructs the reader to contact the company
    • For pages dedicated to one location — Please include the store’s phone number (hyperlinked) in this format: “888-888-8888

Refer to the next few tabs to guide yourself through each part of the article. Please reach out if you have questions!

General References you can use as you write:

  • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CVS_Health

This section is to help you decipher the CVS language, so you know how to talk about it accurately in the article.

  • Store types that include “y másoffer specialized services for Spanish-Speakers. Please refer to the store location as “CVS Pharmacy® y más” throughout the whole page. Essentially, it is a one-stop shop catered towards Latino customers, with reduced pricing for most products in the store. New items are labeled with bilingual “new/nuevo” price tags, and specialized products are offered for this demographic, including:

  • MinuteClinic® is a walk-in clinic provided in-store. They are staffed by nurse practitioners or physician assistants who can diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, or skin conditions, administer vaccinations, screenings and physicals, and write prescriptions. No appointment is needed. https://www.cvs.com/minuteclinic/services?WT.ac=MC-Home-Badge1-services
    • Offer flu shots and other immunizations to children as young as 18 months in most states, as nurse practitioners are present and can administer them.
    • Note: Some immunizations (including flu shots) can also be provided at Pharmacies that don’t feature a MinuteClinic, but these mainly administer to adolescents, adults, and seniors. These immunizations will be administered by an immunization-trained pharmacist. This pharmacy can be considered a walk-in clinic for immunizations only.

  • Flu Clinic is an offsite service a pharmacy can provide to businesses or community centers, with no service fee (these are not in-store services.) Customers only pay for shots and administration. https://m.cvs.com/immunizations/flu/clinics

  • In-store Pickup refers to the ability to order additional grocery or shopping items online (outside or including a prescription), and pick it up in store. This full in-store pickup option is limited by location, but all RX locations offer online refills of prescriptions.

  • OTC Health Services provides customers with a dedicated space to pick up over-the-counter products that are covered by their health provider. Products include items such as over-the-counter non-prescription medicines and medical supplies, vitamins, and health monitoring and testing devices.
    • Not only do members save on the actual cost of the medication but also on the copayment for physician visits and the time spent in the physician’s office.
    • Members can order these products online or over the phone.
    • See www.otchs.com for more information

  • Home Health Center allows customers to walk in and special order thousands of needed products often recognized as brands prescribed in a medical/hospital setting. Can be purchased in bulk for patients with chronic conditions.
    • bath safety (including grab bars, bath seats, rubber mats, transfer benches, commodes, specialty toilet seats, etc),
    • Special bedding items (bed wedges, donut cushions, bed pads, incontinence items, etc.),
    • devices to assist in mobility (canes, crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, lift chairs, power scooters)
    • Orthotics (back, elbow, knee, wrist, neck braces, slings, and post-op footwear)
    • Wound care ( foam dressings, gauzes, wound cleaners, t-drain sponges)
    • Uniforms or professional equipment (stethoscopes, scrubs, uniforms, bandage scissors, etc)
    • Ostomy Care (including catheters, pouches, belts, paste, skin prep products, specimen cups, etc.)

  • ERP Clinical Services offers birth control (hormonal contraception) evaluation and prescribing services to women.
    • No appointment needed.
    • Women age 18 and over (17 and under with proof of previous medication by a health care professional) can be evaluated by the pharmacist for a birth control prescription and up to a year’s worth of refills.
    • Consultation fee applies. Contact pharmacy for details.
    • Find additional information here

To create your title for the CVS page you are writing, please use the following information:

**NOTE: Always use the “&” instead of the word “and” in titles or headers.

For most store types, you can use this formula (always in H1 formatting):

CVS Pharmacy® & Drug Store at (insert street address and city from URL)

  • ex: “CVS Pharmacy® & Drug Store at 4301 E Virginia Ave Glendale”

————————————————————————-

If your store type does not have one specific address, it is considered a “city page”, and should use this format

CVS Pharmacy® & Drug Stores in (insert city, state from URL)

  • ex: “CVS Pharmacy® & Drug Stores in Glendale CO”

————————————————————————-

If your assigned store type says “Target” in column E of the spreadsheet, use this format instead:

CVS Pharmacy® in Target at (insert address from URL)

  • ex: “CVS Pharmacy® in Target at 110 W Meadows Dr Glenwood Springs”

————————————————————————-

If your assigned store type says “y más” in column E of the spreadsheet, use this format instead:

CVS Pharmacy® y más at (insert address from URL)

  • ex: “CVS Pharmacy® y más at 110 W Meadows Dr Glenwood Springs”

Please create a high-quality landing page that describes some of the features and services offered in the particular locations or cities you are assigned. They’d like as much location-specific information as possible, so use our example articles to get a feel for what they’re looking for.

General keywords to use when applicable to location: pharmacy, drug store, cosmetics, passport photo, walk-in clinic

  • Use each of these keywords at least once, if applicable to your location (check Columns E and F of spreadsheet for store type and services.)
    • Double check whether the general keywords (drug store, cosmetics, passport photos, walk-in clinic) are offered at each individual location. If they are not, please do not use them as keywords.
    • For example, if your store type does not say “retail,” there will not be a cosmetic counter.  A “retail” store would be a full, independent store, whereas something inside of a Target may only be a pharmacy pick-up counter.
    • If photos are listed, assume they can do passport photos.
    • Both “MinuteClinic®” and “immunizations” indicates that the store has some sort of walk-in clinic (see “Store Services tab for more info on this)
      • Flu Clinics are off-site services given to business or community centers.

Not all store services need to be mentioned on all pages:

  • Store Services should be highlighted in the following priority:
    1. Core services (Pharmacy, Drug Store, 24hr, photo etc.) – mention these every time
    2. Optical, Audiology, or Home Health Center – if indicated in the store type store service, dedicate a paragraph to this service (and include link, if applicable)
    3. y más – if indicated in the store type, dedicate a paragraph to this service
    4. OTC, Flu Clinic, immunizations, etc
      • Don’t have to mention this in EVERY article, but if you do, it can be a simple mention that OTC Health Services or off-site clinics are offered by this location. No in-depth explanation is needed.
      • If you do mention OTC Health Services, please include this as one of the 5 links requested in the following tabs.
        • Note: Please capitalize “Health Services,” as it is part of the formal title of these services.
        • “OTC Health Services” and “OTC Health Solutions” are both acceptable.

Break up the content using bullet points and headers.

  • All headers should have H2 formatting, and use sentence case.
  • Please include a full space (enter twice) between paragraphs and headers.
  • Try to make each header clear and engaging, and include a relevant keyword, if possible.
    • Bad example:  “Come on in” should be: “Come on over to our pharmacy”
    • “More fun online”  should be: “Shop online for beauty and health products”
    • “A place for tourists and locals alike” should be: “An all-encompassing pharmacy for every need”
    • “Our x” (e.g. Our photos, Our services) should be: “Photo services,” or “Pharmacy services”
    • “Our doors are always open” should be: “24-Hour pharmacy”
  • NOTE: If you reference a target keyword (pharmacy, drug store, cosmetics, passport photo, walk-in clinic) in a heading, please include the related link to that service in the BODY of that paragraph (not in the heading itself.)
  • NOTE: Please do not refer to anything as “Your pharmacy” or “Your store.”

Please refer to the following items within the page (if applicable to the location):

  • transferring prescriptions through our mobile app
  • managing automatic refills
  • personal CVS.com account
  • ExtraCare® rewards
  • photo printing, custom prints
  • Although not necessary for every page, do refer to the Plan B pills that CVS offers from time to time. Please treat this topic carefully and positively. Do NOT create a paragraph specifically dedicated to this service, nor use it in a header. Use this link for more information: https://www.cvs.com/shop/plan-b-one-step-emergency-contraceptive-tablet-prodid-876669
  • also, where possible, use phrases such as “pharmacy near me” or “drug store near me” once in the article.
  • If “optical”, “audiology,” “y más” or “Home Health Center” is listed in the store type column, please dedicate an entire paragraph to the service and include the following terms in the associated heading:
    • Optical– Heading as follows: Optical Center in “Location” (ex. Optical Center in Rockville, Maryland)
      • Paragraph dedicated to discussing what this is, the services we provide, audiences supported by our services, and the benefits of our services. “Optical Center” should be the keyword that’s woven throughout this paragraph.
      • Include a link to these services within the paragraph: https://www.cvs.com/content/optical
    • Audiology — Heading as follows: Hearing Aid Center in “Location” (ex. Hearing Aid Center in Rockville, Maryland)
      • Paragraph dedicated to discussing what this is, the services we provide, audiences supported by our services, and the benefits of our services. Although the heading is “Hearing Aid Center,” “audiology” should be the keyword used within this paragraph.
      • Include a link to these services within the paragraph: https://www.cvs.com/content/hearingcenter
    • y más — Heading should include: “CVS Pharmacy® y más” followed by some type of location/service reference, just like the other headings.
      • One paragraph dedicated to discussing what this is (see store type/services tab for details), the services they provide, audiences supported by their services, and the benefits of their services.
      • Target keywords: CVS Pharmacy® y más near me, CVS Pharmacy® y más
      • Please make sure that “y más” is always in lowercase and includes an accent mark over the “a” in “más.”
      • This press release may also have other helpful information about these services. (no link needed in text)
    • Home Health Center — Heading should include “Home Health Care Services” or “Home Health Services”
      • One paragraph dedicated to discussing what this is (see store type/services tab for details), the services they provide, audiences supported by their services, and the benefits of their services.
      • Target keywords: home health care, durable medical equipment
      • No link needed in text.)

Include the appropriate hyperlinks outlined in the next section of this style guide.

End with a call to action — and include the hyperlinked telephone number, if it is a location page.

Notes:

  • Please do not refer to “curbside pick-up service,” as this service is currently being phased out in some locations.
  • Please do not refer to the store hours unless it is a 24-hour store.
  • Please do not mention other stores in the area, unless you are referring to the Target that houses the CVS pickup counter.

In total, you will create 4 – 5 links on each page.

**In cases where we have too many links, special services take priority. (e.g. optical, audiology, OTC)

  • 1 link to “CVS Pharmacy®”: https://www.cvs.com/
  • 1 link to “pharmacy”: https://www.cvs.com/pharmacy/#/pharmacy
  • 2 other links (choose from lists below)
    • If you choose to mention the Plan B pill services, you must also include this as one of your links.
    • Note: If your location features one of the services that is also identified as a keyword, you may include it as one of your hyperlinks on the page.
  • If your assigned page is for one specific location, please include the a tel:tag to make the phone number clickable. Here’s how:
    • Type the correct phone number using dashes: 123-342-2431
    • Highlight the phone number and push CTRL+K to insert link
    • in box labeled “Address”, type “tel:” and then the number (including dashes)
      • ex. “tel:123-342-2431”
