Daymon Product Descriptions

Tone/Voice:

Specific and informative, not just fluffy or generic.

Daymon Product Description Form:

Click here to download a file containing folders for each product. Each product folder contains an Excel file and a Word file. The Word document is where you write your product descriptions by filling out the highlighted sections. Only worry about the right column (Proposed Copy).

Keywords:

• The excel file contains keywords that must be used as follows: Keywords highlighted in green, however, we do not need to repeat duplicate keywords or use them exactly as they are listed (unless it is a phrase such as “Non-BPA lining – the lining of this can was produced without BPA”). We really just need to hit each keyword once. (we are working coming up with a better system for this client)
• For example:
  • Canned beans
  • Canned low sodium beans
  • Low sodium beans
  • Beans
  • Dark red
  • Canned
  • Kidney beans
  • Dark red kidney beans

  Can all be summed up as:

  • Canned, low sodium, dark red kidney beans

Format:

• You will be writing a Product Title (also known as Product Name), Key Features (also know as Highlights), and Description for each product.

Product Titles:

• Make it 50-75 characters in length for best readability and SEO results.
• Create a unique, specific product name that isn’t used word-for-word on other websites.
• Follow the guideline: Brand + Product Name + Size.
• If “canned” is in the title, it should be just before the size.
• Ex: Great Value Kidney Beans No Salt Added, Canned 15 oz
• “oz” should always be lowercase.
• 

Key Features:

• Include 5 to 10 of the most important benefits and features of your item.
• Include keywords in the key features.
• Put the most important features first.
• Call out specific details about the item and provide complete information. Do not repeat what the item is or include generic, meaningless information.

**Note: Key Features appear “above the fold.” They should be written in an informative, style that motivates customers to purchase the product.**

Description:

• Write a paragraph of 150 words or more. The longer, the better!
• Include Product Name, Brand, Product Keywords, and Related Keywords (if needed).
• Include at least one value proposition and use the word “because”.
• Ensure your Description is unique (i.e., not copied from other sites) and is truly useful for customers. Avoid too much repetition.
• Write copy that is specific and informative, not just fluffy or generic. Show expertise, knowledge and authority with facts and tips.
• Be clear and conversational when writing. You’re helping customers make an informed decision; you’re not trying to sell them on anything. Some slang is acceptable – as long as it doesn’t break an authentic, straightforward tone – since it captures more key terms.

A couple of things to note:

• The claim on the BPAs is strict. We cannot say “BPA Free” at this time.
• We cannot say that they can purchase an individual can because on Walmart.com you have to buy at least two.
• We are going to need to drop “case” or “cases” because technically these products are not shrink-wrapped in a case.
• Don’t make any claims that are not fact. (ex: “you can eat these straight from the can”)
• Don’t make any medical claims. (ex: “these beans contain disease fighting antioxidants”)

• Keep the same file name as the Word document you downloaded.
• Put Daymon in the subject line of the email and send to [email protected]
