Breaking Out of the 1970’s

Family Upgrades From Old Aluminum Windows to State-Of-The Art Fiberglass—With Spectacular Results

  • Instantly beautified the home
  • Saved money on installation by researching companies
  • Increased value of home
  • Perpetual savings on energy bills

Meet the Johnsons

When the Johnson family moved into their Grand Prairie, TX home four years ago, they knew their windows would have to be replaced. The windows were original to the home that had been built in the 1970’s, and they were old, ugly and hard to operate. One was even fogged. Plus, they were aluminum windows—the Johnsons suspected they weren’t very energy efficient—but they had no idea to what extent.

When s second window fogged, they decided it was time to take action.

Comparing Companies

They researched replacement windows online and found that there were tremendous quality differences between vinyl and fiberglass. Their research led them to choose between Infinity by Marvin and Renewal by Andersen. They called both companies to get a quote, and ultimately choose to buy Infinity by Marvin windows from American Exteriors because they have a better warranty (50 years vs. 20 years) and were about 10 percent less expensive.

Exceeding Expectations

When our installation manager, Steve Donahue, arrived with his crew to install the windows, they found extensive wood rot when they took the old windows out. This would have normally delayed the project by at least one day, and added some unexpected cost to the project. But Steve had all the materials on hand because old houses often have these kinds of problems. His team was able to complete the installation of 10 new windows in just one day, at no extra charge to the Johnsons. “We were so impressed with how prepared Steve was when he encountered this unexpected problem,” says Mr. Johnson.

Ben and Beth are extremely pleased with their new windows because they look fantastic and are easy to operate. Their Grand Prairie home is also worth more money now, and they are saving money on their energy bills. “We are no longer stuck in the 70s!” exclaimed the couple. “Our home looks better inside and out and maintains a comfortable temperature year-round without constantly running the heater or air conditioner.”
